Carp fishing in (deep) snow

I had been trying to get a picture of a carp in deep snow for a while now, but things never really worked out due to other commitments or frozen waters! I finally got the chance early December, with the heaviest snowfalls in over 20 years catching my parts of the Alps by surprise. I set off to a nearby gravel pit after having baited up little every day for four days. Snow was still falling solid, and I knew I only had a couple of hours if I didn’t want to be snowed up and stay for longer than intended. After a very cautious approach and setting up in near blizzard, I retreated to the shelter of my brolly for half an hour before getting the only run of the short session.

It would be my luck that out of all the fish I could have caught I had to catch the one known as Quasimodo! Not the prettiest of fish for my snowy shot, but still a fish in two hours of let’s say, unusual conditions! Check out my latest features on www.foxint.com and www.mistralbaits.co.uk for more on winter carping!
